[There's a loud slam as the journal seemingly falls to the ground, starting the recording function. The first thing it picks up is stumbling, followed by frantic screaming. Loud, frantic screaming.]

F-FIRE! FIIIRE!

The bread machine is on fire!

[And cue hurried footsteps as Cheria rushes off to try and find water. She tried putting bread that was already buttered into the toaster, in hopes it would save time and make the toast tastier. Suffice it to say, this didn't end well.]

I... buttered it. [Is that bad?! Oh lord, it's bad. She ruined the toaster with her butter!]

[...Oh, sigh. Asbel never thought he'd be the one lecturing Cheria on food preparation.]

You have to put the bread in plain, or it'll do... this.

But... Why? Does butter break the machine? [She does not get this kind of fancy technology that heats your sandwiches.]

Umm... I'm not sure. Maybe the toaster doesn't like butter...

What about meats? Would it have a problem with that? [Just imagine bacon toasted directly onto your sandwich. That would be amazing.]

[Oooh, that'd be cool... But...]

Wouldn't the grease be bad for it, though?

Well, I suppose if butter is bad, grease would do the same. Cheese wouldn't work either. The only thing that seems safe to heat would be the bread itself. [So much for saving time by preparing the sandwich before heating it...]

...I guess we should stick to that, then. [That would be very convenient, though.]

... Perhaps we can ask Pascal to build a toaster that's resistent to butter and grease. [It's called a sandwich toaster and it already exists, but Cheria doesn't know that.]

[Asbel doesn't know that either, and thus it sounds like a fantastic idea to him.]

So... a toaster that can make sandwiches? ...That sounds like a great idea! I'm sure Pascal can do that!

We should ask her, some time.

[Now all we need is a machine that can make curry and Asbel would have everything he needs to survive. But Cheria rather likes cooking for him, so let's not bring that up.]

We should probably tell her not to add any unnecessary features to it, though... I'd rather our sandwich toaster didn't fly.

[If Cheria suggested that, Asbel would go on a rant about how curry can only be properly made by a pair of hands full of love and passion for the fine food.]

[Cheria chuckles at that.] She'd probably add a rocket launcher as well.

...You really think she could fit a rocket launcher inside it?

I would not be surprised if she could.

...You're right, she probably could.

[Now Cheria's actually picturing a flying, fire-resilient toaster equipped with rocket launchers.]

Perhaps... we should check the store for an appropriate toaster before asking Pascal.

[The one Asbel was picturing had lasers, too.]

We should probably get a new one anyway. I think this one's finished.

Ah... Yes. It is. [She casts another glance at the charred hunk of metal.]

[...Yep, that thing's totaled.]

...I guess I should go get one now, then. [Maybe you should turn on the power too.]

[Bah, who needs power?] Oh, you don't need to do that. I can go out and get one, myself.

No, please, Cheria. I'm sure you must be shaken up after that experience, so I'll take care of it. Don't worry yourself over it.

No, I can do this. Really. It isn't any trouble at all.

Asbel. Surely you don't think I'm incapable of going to the store.
