[There's a loud slam as the journal seemingly falls to the ground, starting the recording function. The first thing it picks up is stumbling, followed by frantic screaming. Loud, frantic screaming.]

F-FIRE! FIIIRE!

The bread machine is on fire!

[And cue hurried footsteps as Cheria rushes off to try and find water. She tried putting bread that was already buttered into the toaster, in hopes it would save time and make the toast tastier. Suffice it to say, this didn't end well.]

Then dump flour or something on it. Water will only make it worse.

Ah... right! [And now she'll be rummaging through the cupboards.]

We do have flour, right?

[Otherwise there might be a very quick detour to the store on the way home.]

We have... baking soda. Will that do?

Yes, that will do-- dump the entire box on the flames, but be careful not to get too close.

[Voice]

I-I will! [Footsteps, and a sort of 'poof' as the baking soda gets dumped onto the flames.]

Did that work?

[He's almost home!]

It's still smoking terribly. [Not to mention the smell. Pheeoow.]

And the fire?

I... believe it's out.

That's a relief.

[And there's the sound of the door opening as Richard comes running in, stopping in front of the kitchen to survey the damage.]

Are you injured, Miss Cheria?

[She hangs her head, chewing her bottom lip anxiously. She can't even bring herself to look at the damage she caused.]

I'm fine, Your Majesty. Please, there's no need to worry about me.

[Action]

[The toaster is clearly a lost cause, but it could be worse. Really, it's amazing that no one else has done anything worse yet, given this household.]

Don't worry, I had a similar incident with the microwave myself at one point.

I-is that so? [That does make her feel somewhat better, but now she feels bad for Richard.]

Yes, there was smoke everywhere. I had to open a window to get it all to clear out.

[He doesn't seem too embarrassed by the story at all.]

[If Richard's comfortable enough to talk about this with a smile on his face, it must be alright for Cheria to make light of the situation as well.]

I suppose we just don't mesh well with electronic machines, do we?

Fortunately they aren't that difficult to use once you've learned the basics, and they make cooking much easier.

By the way, please just call me "Richard" in public. My position isn't exactly public knowledge yet, and I'd prefer to keep it that way. I don't want anyone treating me differently because I'm royalty.
