First page - [Video]

[The journal suddenly starts recording to catch a young woman's voice in mid-sentence. Sadly, the camera is directed towards the ground.] -at this button does... Is it broken?

This is hopeless. I'll never figure this device out. [A deep sigh.] If only Pascal were here...

[The image shakes, then tilts harshly until the camera is directed towards a stone ceiling instead. A hand swiftly moves past the screen.] ... Ah? What's it doing now?

[And finally, the journal is tilted one last time to show a girl with long pink hair, wearing a New Feather dress and staring into the camera with a confused expression.]

[Cheria's expression saddens greatly.]

Over two years of being imprisoned and used as a guinea pig, when you've done absolutely nothing to deserve such punishment...

[Two years of being separated from her Eidolons, too. Rydia looks wistful.]

Others have been here longer than I, though. It's frustrating, of course, but...it's not all terrible.

[She folds her hands together, then meets Rydia's eyes with a determined gaze.]

What can I do to help?

[That determined demeanor is noted with approval.]

Well, what are your talents?

Ah... Let's see. Back home, I'm a member of a special support group. We aid citizens in need during hard times. I can cook, clean, fight... I know basic first aid...

[She hesitates for a moment. Rydia has magical powers as well, so it shouldn't hurt to tell her this, right?] And I have a special power that can heal injuries and certain illnesses. Though it doesn't seem to be working as well in this place anymore.

Still, healing is a very valuable skill. You might want to speak with Adell; he's the leader of the Blue Rogues, a group which helps defend the town.

[Defend the town?] ... Against our captors?

[She shakes her head.]

No. They never show themselves, and even when they send automatons to kidnap people, those are too powerful.

I hate to say this, but not everyone in town is friendly and willing to live and let live. There are a few dangerous people and it's from them that we try to protect each other.

I understand. Much like innocents forcefully being taken here, the malicious can be sent here as well.

[She sighs and nods.]

Yuber's among the worst, but he's not the only one. I'm sure Adell has an updated list.

Then, I will be certain to ask him about it. [She's silent for a moment.] ... What sort of medical facilities does this place have?

Well, there's the clinic across the street. There's also a medical facility in the Battle Dome, for those that are injured while training.

Two different facilities... That's good. And there are enough doctors present?

I'm not entirely certain on that. I'm sure they do what they can, but I'm willing to bet that more would always be welcome. Thanks to Nala -the healing spirit- many of us can ease wounds, but actual medical background is a different thing altogether.

I see... [Cheria wanders over to the nearest chair to take a seat, before stretching her back lightly.]

I just realized I've been a little ungrateful, so far. Thank you very much for all your assistance, miss Rydia. [She bows her head.]

[She smiles, but shakes her head.]

You're welcome, though I didn't think you were. This is a lot to take in, after all; I was overwhelmed, too, when I first arrived.

Even so... I was taught to always be polite and mind my manners, regardless of the situation.
