Ninth Page - [Written]

[It's been almost two weeks since Sophie left Luceti. Cheria's no stranger to having friends sent home, but that doesn't make it any easier. She's been struggling with a little problem of her own and today, she's decided to ask for advice. Her query is written in a neat little scrawl.]

What does it mean when you have the same dream almost every night? Is there any way to make it [...] stop?

R-Richard! That's not funny!

That was why I offered myself for the position.

[Richard can play innocent all he wants, but Cheria knows what he really meant.]

Well... We could try it for just one night, if that's all right with you.

Of course. And I was only joking when I offered to share the bed-- I'll be just fine on the floor.

Ahahah... Of course. There's just one problem. Pascal wants to spend the night in my room as well.

[She's kind of flattered her friends insist on helping her out like this, but she's not sure her room is big enough to host two floor guests.]

I'm sure Pascal wouldn't mind sleeping in the closet if space turns out to be an issue. Something tells me she'd be right at home there.

[Cheria manages a soft giggle at that.]

... Thank you, Richard. For making me feel better.

[Richard just shakes his head, smiling-- not that she can see it on her end.]

Happy to help. It's the least I can do, since I've no doubt I've awoken you before as a result of my own dreams. I really wonder how Isamu puts up with it sometimes.

[Ohh... She must've slept through those instances like a rock. Awkward... Now that she thinks about it, Richard has much more cause for nightmares than she does.]

I guess that... it's only logical for you to have bad dreams from time to time.

Not as often as I used to, thanks to Isamu. As bad as this place can be sometimes, I'm grateful to it for the good things it's brought as well.

Mmh... It's a little strange how this place can be both a blessing and a curse. I... I wonder what things will be like when we go back home.

[All the friends she's met here... She'll forget them all. And she's making progress with Asbel now. When she returns to Ephinea, they'll be right back where they left off.]

You worry about how that will change what you've developed here.

[Yes, Richard is quite aware of that concern, and it's understandable.]

Yes, I am. If Sophie's dream comes true, I'm sure we'll all stay together when we continue our lives back home, but... There are some experiences that I just don't want to forget.

I may not be able to make any guarantees, but I can tell you that both Isamu and I remembered everything that had happened here when we were sent home earlier this year. That means it's just a matter of finding a way to make sure that's the case when we finally do return for good.

I hope that we'll succeed soon... [Before any more of her friends, or even herself, follow Sophie's example and return home. It'd already happened to Hubert and the Captain as well.]

We will. If there's anything I've learned from our adventures, it's that Asbel will stop at nothing until he finds some way to succeed.
