Fourth Page - [Accidental voice]

[It's been over two weeks since Cheria was taken by the Malnosso, but at last, her journal is showing signs of life again. There's just one problem. The voice being broadcast through it doesn't entirely sound like Cheria. It's that of a young girl- eleven years old to be exact. She seems to be having trouble breathing, a weak gasp sounding every few words. She also seems to be on the verge of crying, making it even more of a struggle for her to speak.]

A-Asbel? Hubert? ... So-Sophie? Are you okay? This... This isn't funny. ... C-come out right now, or I'll... I'll tell Lady Kelly on you! ... [Sniffle.] Where...? I'm...

[A soft thud- she just fell to her knees.]

I'm l-lost. I knew... we should never have... gone down there.

[It's a voice not familiar to most, but it's certainly a voice familiar to Asbel. ...Somewhat, at least. He hasn't heard the voice in seven years, after all, but that tone, combined with calling those names, is pretty unmistakable, even to Asbel.]

...Cheria?

[Asbel will immediately hear some faint disturbance, as Cheria frantically scuttles away from the source of his voice. She has yet to find the journal.]

H-haaah?! W-Who... Who said- [Then she breaks into a coughing fit.]

[Oh, boy, not good. Did they really turn Cheria into a child?]

Ah, Cheria! Are you alright?

[This voice sounds especially nice to Cheria. It's been a few years since she last heard a motherly kind of tone directed towards her. Her grandpa tries, but it just isn't the same.]

I... I don't know. ... I was in Balonia and now... I'm not.

[ Truthfully, other than Mithos she hasn't had any other experience with children. Not many people trust a half-elf with their kids. But she just has that special talent in her. ]

Don't worry. I'll be sure to find you. Can you describe the place you're in? I'm familiar with the area around here so it shouldn't be too hard to find you.

[That voice is decidedly younger than what he's used to, but there's no mistaking it. However, his relief is mixed with worry when he hears that coughing, because that's right, she was ill as a child, wasn't she...?]

Miss Cheria! Where are you?

[This person may seem concerned, but the fact that he knows Cheria's name isn't exactly settling her down.]

I'm... Who are you?

[Of course she wouldn't recognize him-- he's almost nine years older than he was when they first met. He's no longer a child; his voice doesn't even bear any resemblance to its old childish tone.]

It's Richard, though I suppose I don't sound very much like I did back then.

[Luckily, Cheria has calmed down a bit by now.]

[ Sophie doesn't really recognize the voice right away, seeing as she hasn't heard it in such a long time, but once she hears her name, she perks up. And it takes her a moment, but she soon realizes that it's Cheria's voice (though she sounds different — younger — and it's confusing). ]

Cheria?

[For once, there's a voice that sounds familiar to Cheria. Unlike Asbel and Richard, Sophie sounds exactly the same as back home.]

So-Sophie! Are you okay? [Richard already told her Sophie's okay, but she had to ask anyway.]

[ Sophie looks sort of shocked that this smaller sounding version of Cheria is asking if she's okay. But she answers all the same. ]

Yes. I'm okay.

[Cheria's voice strikes a cord of worry in Jeb. Not just any kind of worry, either--an older brother-type of worry. Not that he knows it, but Cheria is, at the moment, around the age of his youngest sister.]

Are you okay? Do you need someone to come get you...?!

[Sadly, Cheria hears that kind of worry from Asbel all the time. It's making her feel a bit guilty for bothering this person with her troubles.]

I'm... fine. Please, don't worry. ... My friend is coming for me.

[Protective older brother mode refuses to turn off.]

[Cheria is back.

-- is pretty much all Hubert is aware of as he (anxiously) waits for her return at the house. (Though on second thought, he probably should have accompanied his brother, and he's been regretting this the moment Asbel stepped out of the house.) When he hears the door opening and closing, he heads to the entrance to investigate.]

Cheria --

[Well, it looks like Asbel made it back safely with Cheria. You really should have more faith in your brother, Hubert. He's standing in the doorway now, Cheria piggybacking.]

[Man, Cheria was just enjoying that piggy-back ride. Her head was leaning on Asbel's shoulder and she was about ready to doze off. Still, when she hears Asbel say that name, she instantly looks up with a curious expression.]

Hubert?
